One of the most challenging aspects of being an independent business owner is customer relationship management. As a Professional Vacation Consultant who offers a concierge level of service, it is critical for me to have a good knowledge of my existing clients as well as my new clients. I want and need to understand where they are in their life, where they have traveled to, and where they want to go in the future. It is important for me to make them feel as if they are my most important client by knowing birthdays, anniversaries, childrens’ names, preferences in style of travel, hobbies, the kinds of food and music they like, etc.
68% of people who abandon a business do so because they think the company seems indifferent to them.
14% do so because they don’t believe their complaints are resolved.  Both of these reasons are preventable with a high level of customer service . It costs five to six times more to attract a new client than it does to retain an existing one. By retaining 5% more of your clients, you can double your profits!
