“Where the World First Fell in Love With Sandals”

Sandals Montego Bay- October 2014

As Professional Vacation Advisors located in Nashville, TN, at My Savvy Vacation we stay at the places we sell in order to be able to advise our clients with first-hand knowledge. We regularly recommend the Sandals All-Inclusive Resorts to our honeymoon and anniversary couples and to groups of couples who enjoy traveling together, because we have experienced the quality inclusions which cannot be beat by any other resort company that we have found in our travels.
This was my first time to stay at Sandals Montego Bay and I was very pleasantly surprised. This resort is located just 5 minutes from the Sangster International Airport and 10 minutes away from the town center. It is set on the North Coast’s largest private white-sand beach and it is gorgeous!
My fear was that being so close to the airport the planes would be a major distraction, but I found that is not the case at all. As a matter of fact, the resort personnel make a game of the 7 flights a day by encouraging guests to wave at the planes and having couples kiss for luck! I did not notice anyone who seemed bothered by the planes in the least.
This resort charmed me from the minute I arrived and I knew I would be recommending it to all of my couples clients!
After settling into our Caribbean Oceanview Luxury Room, we wandered around to find something to eat and drink and opted for Stewfish, which serves Jamaican Seafood a la carte. We loved the fresh seafood! There are 8 dining options on the property and with the “Stay at One, Play at Three” there is access to 19 restaurants, including the 8 restaurants at Sandals Royal Caribbean and the 3 restaurants at Sandals Carlyle and complimentary shuttle service is included. There are 4 bars and cocktail lounges at Sandals Montego Bay, including the coolest piano bar I have ever seen! It is a piano bar inside and a swim up bar outside, with windows that open to the beautiful meandering lagoon pool. We enjoyed a drink here while watching the stunning Jamaican sunset.
Later that evening, we enjoyed the amazing talents of the staff at Encore in the outdoor theatre. Besides Encore on Thursday nights, there is entertainment every night with the Reggae Fest, the Boonoonoonoos Beach Party and Buffet- so much fun, Island Night, Jamaica Jamboree, Island Romance and Caribbean Night.
While we were here, we thoroughly enjoyed the landsports, tennis day and night, giant outdoor chess, basketball, pool tables, croquet, shuffle board and beach and pool volleyball and it’s all included!
I am an avid watersports lover and we had so much to choose from, including canoeing, kayaking, hobie cat sailing, paddle boards, a glass bottom boat, wake boarding, knee boarding, water-skiing, snorkeling, windsurfing, tubing and scuba diving. As a certified diver, it is important to me that unlimited scuba diving is offered for Certified divers and there are courses for beginners, as well as PADI International Dive Certification at additional but minimal cost.
I also love the fact that this resort has the eco-village, where the suites are fully powered by solar energy. I hope more resorts will move in this direction.
After several years of not being interested in staying at this resort, I am so glad I did and I look forward to returning in the near future!
This resort offers 250 accommodation options, including many beachfront rooms and suites with panoramic views, as well as gorgeous Hideaway Beachfront Estate Villas. I highly recommend the Club Level and Butler Level suites over the Luxury intro level. I stayed in the intro level suite here and I missed the extras such as the in room bar, room service and I love having a butler, which I missed this time.
Bring white clothes for White Night (everyone dresses in white) so you don’t feel like the odd ball. Besides, it’s beautiful.
